W.A.L.T: retell one of the Maori legends.
Pentecost
Pentecost
the Christian festival celebrating the descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples of Jesus after his Ascension, held on the seventh Sunday after Easter.
Why do people celebrate pentecost?
The festival of Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks. In the Christian tradition, this event represents the birth of the early church.
Metaphor
METAPHOR
A metaphor is a figure of speech that is used to make a comparison between two things that aren't alike but do have something in common. Unlike a simile, where two things are compared directly using like or as, a metaphor's comparison is more indirect, usually made by stating something is something else.
Here is some examples
1:“throw the baby out with the bathwater
2:life is a box of chocolates
3: Life was a roller coaster
4:its raining tacos
5:My head was fake
6.Hes as Smart as a computer.

Personification
Personification
Personification is the attribution of a personal nature or human characteristics to something non-human, or the representation of an abstract quality in human form.
Example: As the leaf diving off the branch of a tree.
The purpose of this figurative language is to bring inanimate things to life to better explain them. Writers often use personification to make their writing more vivid and to have the reader understand the object or animal in a better way.
Here are 5 good examples of personification
1.Lightning danced across the sky.
2.The wind howled in the night.
3.The car complained as the key was roughly turned in its ignition.
4.Jackson heard the last piece of pie calling his name.
5.My alarm clock yells at me to get out of bed every morning.

Around two weeks ago the year 8 went to Wellington and on the last day before we went back to Christchurch we went to Capital E! Well what is Capital E you say well it is an studio for young people and you can go there now so you can be like a news reporter and do scripts and it real cool stuff with real equipment and green screens and its really cool.
In Capital E we did amazing stuff like be reporters and be camera men/women also you can dress up and look stupid , funny or cool.
All my friends were looking kinda silly and i was looking... pretty stupid and there where sounds and even different rooms so when we were all ready the camera was ready axl and trinity were doing there scrips and we each had our own parts to do.
And sooner or later we had to go and pack up and put all the costumes back sadly.
